DOE ANNOUNCES TIMELINE OF ACTIVITIES FOR FOURTH GREEN ENERGY AUCTION (GEA-4)

TAGUIG CITY – The Department of Energy (DOE) has officially commenced the Fourth Round of the Green Energy Auction (GEA-4), marking a significant step in accelerating the development and integration of renewable energy (RE) resources in the Philippines. The process was formally launched with the issuance of the Notice of Auction (NOA) and Terms of Reference (TOR) on 29 March 2025, followed by updates through Advisory Nos. 1 and 2, released on 28 May 2025 and 11 June 2025, respectively.

These actions reaffirm the DOE’s commitment to promoting national energy security and sustainability through a transparent and competitive procurement process.

On 13 June 2025, the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) posted the Green Energy Auction Reserve (GEAR) Prices on its official website through ERC Resolution No. 9, Series of 2025. These prices will serve as the basis for bid offers under the GEA-4.  As stated in the NOA and TOR, the registration period for Qualified Suppliers (QS) will commence one (1) working day after the release of the GEAR Prices.

The implementation of GEA-4 represents a major stride toward a more sustainable energy future for the Philippines. With over 10 gigawatts of solar and wind capacity up for auction—targeted for commercial operations from 2026 to 2029—this round aims to boost the RE share in the country’s energy mix, strengthen grid reliability, and ensure energy security.

GEA-4 not only promotes increased investment in RE, but also affirms the DOE’s commitment to competitive, transparent, and efficient energy procurement practices. ###
